About Emily
Ms. Pontious plays a vital role in both client support and administrative duties in the office. A recent graduate of Towson University, Ms. Pontious has always been deeply passionate about learning and growth. She began as an intern with Mariela D’Alessio in 2021, before officially joining the team in 2024. Since then, she has excelled in contributing to the smooth operation of day-to-day tasks while providing valuable support to the staff and clients alike.
While at Towson University, Ms. Pontious demonstrated her academic excellence and leadership by being one of only four Towson students selected to present at the Mid-Atlantic Region Asian American Studies Conference. This honor showcased her strong research and public speaking skills, as well as her deep commitment to the study of global cultures and issues. Ms. Pontious’s presentation showcased her ability to analyze complex topics and communicate them effectively to a broader audience.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Pontious has a strong commitment to leadership and mentorship. She has spent significant time volunteering and coaching Color Guard, where she has helped young performers develop both their technical skills and teamwork. Her leadership experience is marked by a passion for motivating others, instilling discipline, and creating a positive, inclusive environment. Ms. Pontious plans to continue working with youth organizations as a volunteer or coach as she progresses in her career.
Driven by a long-standing interest in law, Ms. Pontious intends to continue her education by pursuing a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
Ms. Pontious and her partner, Max, reside in Towson with their two cats, Midge and Kevin, and a thriving collection of houseplants. Together, they enjoy a cozy and lively home that reflects their shared love for learning, growth, and adventure.

Prior to joining D’Alessio Law, Ms. Pontious interned at Smith, Gildea & Schmidt, LLC under the guidance of Mariela D’Alessio. She joined D’Alessio Law in 2024 and assumed a full-time position in 2025 as a paralegal.

Ms. Pontious graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.
